As Amazon’s AWS re:Invent 2016 took over Las Vegas we showcased our patented Active Data Replication technology to many of the 32,000 attendees. A large crowd watched our VP of Product Management Paul Scott-Murphy talk about “Extending Hadoop and Spark to the AWS Cloud”. Others visited our booth to meet our identical twins Gary and Larry who represented how our patented technology enables exactly the same data to be available at multiple locations.

During the conference we gave away thousands of free WANdisco t-shirt emblazoned with the words “Imagine identical data. Anywhere. Anytime. Always.” as many also entered our competition to win tickets to next year’s Masters Golf Tournament.

This year the Snowball Edge and the Snowmobile were unveiled as the latest products in Amazon’s Snowball data transfer service. While many analysts first thought the Snowball, a massive, container based storage device that is designed to physically load massive quantities of data from their on-premises storage to AWS, was a joke it became clear that Amazon’s latest innovation does take advantage of the company’s existing logistics infrastructure. Nevertheless, Amazon’s latest innovation is not a viable option for many companies looking to move large amounts of massive data to AWS. Speaking to theCUBE*, the online show from the SiliconANGLE media team, our CEO David Richards noted “If enterprise is moving to cloud, they have to get there without any interruption to service.” Only WANdisco’s Fusion technology enables our customers to continually to replicate transactional data with no downtime and no disruption to business operations which he stated is critical to cloud 2.0.
